According to Indivisible National, “nearly 7 million people have attended today's peaceful protests, which makes No Kings Day the biggest single-day protest against tyranny in American history! With more than 2,700 lawful and peaceful protests across all 50 states, No Kings Day was 14 times larger than both of Trump's presidential inaugurations (combined).”

The Indivisible Joplin team made the difficult decision to reschedule our No Kings event that was intended to be today due to the potential for hazardous weather conditions. It’s unfortunate that we couldn’t host our protest on the day of national action, but we are still committed to bringing you an incredible event.

In his book, Across That Bridge: A Vision for Change and the Future America, late civil rights activist and Congressman John Lewis said, “We must accept one central truth and responsibility as participants in a democracy: Freedom is not a state; it is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau where we can finally sit down and rest. Freedom is the continuous action we all must take.”

If freedom is a continuous action, let’s not let one day stop us. We have everything ready: All we need is you!

RSVP Here for more information: https://www.mobilize.us/indivisible/event/861827/

When? Tomorrow, Sunday, October 19th, from 2 pm to 6 pm

Where? Sidewalk along Rangeline, in front of Northpark Mall

Why Protest? In America, we don’t put up with would-be kings. Our peaceful movement is only getting bigger and stronger. "NO KINGS" is more than just a slogan—it’s the foundation our nation was built upon. Born in the streets, carried by millions in chants and on posters, it echoes from city blocks to rural town squares, uniting people across this country to fight dictatorship together. The president thinks his rule is absolute. But in America, we don’t have kings, and we won’t back down against chaos, corruption, and cruelty. Grow our movement and join us.

Why the Location Change? Since the protest will now take place on a Sunday afternoon, the traffic at 7th and Main (which was the original protest site) will likely be much slower. We have changed locations to try to reach as many people as possible. While 7th and Rangeline has been a popular protest location in the past, our first No Kings event created issues for the businesses that share the parking lot on the corner. To take advantage of the Rangeline traffic, we will hold the protest on Rangeline in front of the mall. RSVP or follow our socials or website for more information to be released soon regarding the new location: https://indivisiblejoplin.wixsite.com/hope

Safety:

A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. This includes refraining from yelling rude things at passing vehicles. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events. If you see a safety concern, please report it to a volunteer in a yellow safety vest.

We hope to see you there. Let’s show Joplin that we can stand up for our Democracy any day we need to.

See you in the streets!
