Alright, Indivisibles, Here’s the Scoop...

About 40 activists met near the base of the Praying Hands in Webb City to "Rage Against the Regime" on August 2nd. The protest was part of a mass mobilization organized by 50501 "to channel our collective rage against the Trump regime for its weaponization of ICE against our communities, construction of concentration camps, covering up of the Epstein Files, attacks on transgender rights, and its dismantling of Medicaid, SNAP, USAID, the Department of Education, NOAA, and the National Weather Service into collective action."

Groups turned out across the country to stand in solidarity with those most strongly affected by the Trump Administration's heartless policies. Indivisible Joplin chose to do so by protesting and by collecting donations for Food Not Bombs Joplin. They gathered reusable water bottles and hydration packets for the local houseless community.

Indivisible Joplin coordinators received several bits of negative feedback about the new location we tried out. Some people were uncomfortable with the religious symbolism of the memorial. We also found that reaching the sidewalk directly between the Praying Hands and the highway was difficult due to an inclined ground. There was a lot of traffic on 171 Highway, and although the traffic moved quickly, we received many supportive honks! For now, I believe we are shifting back to holding protests at 7th and Rangeline, but trying a new location was an interesting experience.

When I dropped off the donations for Food Not Bombs Joplin to their local representative, she was extremely grateful. In addition to what is pictured above, we collected over $200, which she told me came just in time; they had just depleted their funds providing their July end-of-the-month meal.

I love how much you all show up for our community...

It's an incredible thing to be a part of.

Thank you.
